I am a 50 year old grandmother who has decided that she would like to get a degree before she retires. I am planning to retire in 2 years and would like to have at least an associates degree before then. I have four grandchildren, three boys and a girl. My granddaughter lives in North Carolina, one grandson lives in Pittston and the other two grandsons live in Washington. I work fulltime at the Maine Support Network, an organization that provides professional development opportunities for educators. I also work weekends, during the summer at Beaver Brook Campground where we are seasonal campers and nights during the fall and winter at the LL Bean Call Center in Waterville. In addition to taking courses at UMA, I am taking a medical transcription correspondence course.
All these initiatives are toward one goal, retiring and fulltime rving. In two year, when my husband turns 59 we would like to quit our fulltime jobs and go on the road in our RV. We would get seasonal jobs at RV parks around the country. In my full-time job I work on our organization's website - www.mainesupportnetwork.org It has been fun starting my own website from scratch and I think I will keep it up even after the class is over. in my sparetime - I very rarely have any - I do scrapbooking, crocheting, and ceramics to give as gifts for Christmas.
I enjoy reading but I have replaced it with books on tapes that I listen to while I am traveling to and from my jobs. I have custody of a fourteen year old nephew and that keeps me busy with track meets, concerts, etc. I also try to spend some time each week with the grandson that lives in Pittston, he also has sports, concerts, etc. that Grammi Jo needs to attend.
